You mixed up two different things with the same name, chaumian ecash technology used for Cashu layer 3 tokens redeemable for sats. And the bcash fork with a retarded name to confuse people: eCash.

Cashu is an eCash implementation.

"The group that believed Bitcoin should be used as a payment method only ended up leaving the community and created Bitcoin Cash in 2017."

"Bitcoin backed" != Bitcoin.

Cashu is a Layer 2 Bitcoin project that enables private, and cheap Bitcoin-backed eCash transactions using Chaumian eCash principles.

Not to be pedantic but since cashu is built atop lightning and not the base chain, it should be considered a L3
