a friend of a friend ( who is dead ) came over to see me recently - he is the only one remaining single - everybody else is either married or dead.

he is also one of the few who still live in NYC ( everybody else moved to NJ, Florida or Texas ).

this is why i need to move to Tampa - so my friends stop asking when i will come to visit them LOL.

you need connections ( networking ), not "friends"

the art is how you manage that distinction because it can't be fully separated ... you can't trust people who are only in it for money and on other hand people who you only know because you smoke pot or drink together aren't very useful ...

other things are messy like this too - you can't get extreme in these things - you have to look for some kind of balance ...

i would say you probably want to stay in touch with everybody who can be of value such as friends and family but not so close that you are weighed down by their problems and limitations ... that is the easy part

the hard part is finding something to bond over with people who are killing it in your field ...

i'm also not really against marriage.

but rather you have to think of worst possible scenario and be OK with it.

worst possible scenario is your wife will be sleeping with other men and/or become unfuckable and / or divorce you. if you can handle those things ( and there is about 80% probability that one of the three will happen, if not all 3 ) then do it - get married.

if your wife is making six figures and you both share an interest in raising successful children then it shouldn't matter if she gets fat, fucks niggers or divorces you. you keep your money and you have children.

but if you marry a girl because you fell in love then you will get burned, unless she is a 12 year old virgin and you live in a country where adultery is punished by having a woman stoned to death.
