Signal is centralized and requires a number, SimpleX doesn’t require a phone number and can be set up to not be centralized; here Seth is running the server this group is connected to.

Besides not having friends that have downloaded and use the SimpleX app, do you see anything wrong with SimpleX’s architecture? Since they take VC money and are a company is this a problem long term?

Their recent FTP release looks interesting as well.

I don’t see a problem if there is an option to run your own relay and the code can be verified. Is the code open source?

Nice. I don’t begrudge projects for taking VC money. I understand the concerns but also the challenges of building a business. If it’s open source it can be forked.

And I’m already getting some of my friends to switch from Signal. Only problem I see with the transition is that it’s so damn easy to post gifs in Signal currently.
