Nicander, a Roman military commander, and Marcian, his secretary, were converted to Christianity by Saint Peter the Apostle in Antioch. Upon their return to Egypt, they boldly preached the Gospel, converting many to Christ and demolishing pagan temples. They were arrested for defying the Roman emperor's decree to worship idols. Despite severe torture, they refused to renounce their faith, enduring scourging, fire, and crucifixion. Their unwavering faith led to their martyrdom.

O Holy Martyrs Nicander and Marcian, intercede for us before Christ our God, that we may be granted strength to stand firm in our faith.
