Why AWS?
Just first obvious thought. I did two versions of The Spain Report on that from scratch with Rails and Stripe, so can find my way around it. If there's something better or easier, all ears...
give it a shot, but decentralized tech on AWS is not the best solution long term

The slow part is always getting a full copy of the blockchain from peers.

When you get more familiar with the technical side of it, should you be so inclined, you could choose between LND / CLN / Eclair / etc.
