If you've always wanted to contribute to #OpenStreetMap but were always overwhelmed by the GIS nature of editing, give https://streetcomplete.app/ a try. It lets you improve the map around you by answering simple questions (or on some phones using lasers to measure things?!). As a "normal" OSM contributor I still use it for random mapping or to quickly make a small change while I'm nearby - instead of making a note and dealing with it later. It also keeps getting new tasks, so you're never done.
