改⼼ (Kaizen)

The Japanese word that means “1% better every day.”

That means over a year, you get 37x better.

Most people get worse.

Small actions today. Big results tomorrow.

The first time I heard of the 1% rule was from one of my best GMs during my times as restaurant manager. We were discussing burnout and marginal gains when he explained the value of focusing on small, consistent improvements rather than striving for sudden, unrealistic leaps. While a 1% improvement may not seem significant in the moment, its cumulative effect over time can surpass even the most ambitious goals.

Applicable to every day life. Love your note for this new year!
