But then some people pointed out that Linus isn’t pronounced LIE-nus in Finland, so they started trying to pronounce it the way Finns would. But there’s a bit of nuance to the vowel in Linus. It’s closer to LEE-nus, but there’s just enough of a diphthong that it has a hint of the “IH” sound to it as well. So that’s what it became.
