They've been burned too many times by dudes posing as attractive women to get zaps. They're all paranoid now.
This #shoeonhead thing is pretty effective for verification though.
Reminds me of Reddit verification in certain subreddit, but more simple than having to write something on a piece of paper and take a photo holding it.
