On education. I see a lot of people from mainly wester countries and more so from North America, are trying to advocate for revamping of the educational system in their countries. While it is a great thing, but what is being proposed completely misses the point of education (IMHO). Kids’ brain is not the same as adults’ brain. It is still developing and requires to go through fundamental and important lessons like: social interaction, mathematics, linguistics, physics, and logic. Other good things are history, geography, chemistry and electronics. Everything else is secondary to the purpose and highly volatile. If a kid learns basics of science and logic, they will easily learn all the derivatives without much problems. All I see now is that schools defer math and science, which raises a much less logical and more obedient population that can’t think for itself. Sad 🐶🐾🤔😭

How does school defer math? Kids do it in first grade

Very simple one and never going into more complex subject at a later time. I see more schools that even allow to skip math at the final grades 🐶🐾🫡

More advanced than calculus? What else do you need to learn to understand the world around you?

If calculus is on the menu, then good, but I know schools in my area and US that just stop at basic algebra if that 🐶🐾🫡

1) What

Go home Dave, you are drunk 🐶🐾🤣🤣🤣🫂

😅

This is somewhat true where I am in Australia. Maths and science subjects are still taught through most of school which gives the foundations but things become optional in the later years. There is still specialist maths offered which teaches the more complex topics but a lot of students don’t choose that path. TBH though I don’t know how I feel about that, I did math into University level, I’ve forgotten most of it and never really needed it..

It helped to form your brain, it’s not about needing it at the core, it is utilized subconsciously 🐶🐾🫡

Learning how to learn is the most important thing. We live in an age where we have nearly all the cumulative knowledge of humanity instantly available at our fingertips, but most people don't know how to make the most of that power.

So true 🐶🐾🫡

My two cents if I had a do over. I would make do with a single family income and home school the kids until 8th grade or so.

We need to differentiate between education and training. Education is the transmission of culture and values. Some training is necessarily inclusive in that, such as logic and language especially, but the sciences have no foundation, no real reason for being conveyed, unless the will is formed and can integrate the knowledge. Otherwise, it's useless memorization.

I went to school and university on a Rugby scholarship. No one ever gave a shit if I learned anything.
