What do you mean? It's high in protein?

Indigestible chitin. The protein shows up on the assay but it is not bioavailable (according to a USDA study I was sort of involved in)

You got some links you can hook me up with? This spring I'm planning to do BSFL production in an old tub cuz I have access to a ton of brewers grains and my animals can only eat so much and the BSFL naturally invade my compost as is

Then go for it! BSFL was all the hype but the production numbers were lower than the hype. Chooks gonna eat bugs regardless. I think meal worms were a little better in terms of FCR

Definitely think meal worms are better but BSFL just naturally invade here. My plan is mostly to collect their frass, feed that to red wigglers, then use their poo for compost tea. Bugs are just snacks for the chickens and free bait for folks who wanna fish our ponds.

Cuz this is the only study I find
