How do you feel about social security? In 2024 the US spent 1.5 trillion on social security.

Social security is a program to “protect” individuals financially once they are older. I understand that many people have paid their dues to social security and rely on receiving that money, but the program seems fundamentally broken to me.

Because the government runs perpetual deficits, constantly overspending, they have to increase the money supply to service their debt. By the time people receive social security, the money has significantly depreciated.

If the government cannot protect the value of the money, then as an individual wouldn’t you rather have the option to invest that money yourself. Social security is 12.4% of earnings, imagine if you could invest that 12.4% into Bitcoin or your dream business.

What are your thoughts on this? If I’m overlooking something let me know.
