It's always puzzled me that election day in the US is not a national holiday. Here's a day to decide the leader of the free world, but you better go to work still so you can pay us your taxes to run the country. 🤡

I don’t know if this is true but I read somewhere that in some place in some time there was a tradition of selecting a king for a year, the “winner” would get all manner of luxury and privilege. At the end of that year the people in ritualistic fashion sacrificed him. I don’t remember if they beheaded him or burnt him, but they murdered him nonetheless. Sometimes I think the charade of elections is the compromise “we” have come to.
