Bitcoin was not designed to be completely anonymous, but for every transaction to be recorded and transparent, it’s the reason BTC is being embraced and legitimized by legacy finance: because the ledger is public and transactions/gains can be taxed.

I think money should be completely separated from state control, and I hate taxes, but Monero’s anonymity is not built into BTC.

Instead, that code for ring signatures and privacy are isolated to the monero fork.
