hmm, without copyright would that mean that anyone had commercial rights?
No. If you are using the free version you cannot use the image for commercial purpose, ex an ad you are paid for. If you have a subscription you can use the images as you wish, even to make money.
But you are right in that since they cannot be copyrighted anyone could use the same image.
