This effect was observed by analyzing millisecond pulsars, fast-rotating burned-out stars emitting radio pulses like precise cosmic clocks. The study linked below found variations in these pulsars' ticking rates, which are caused by low-frequency gravitational waves distorting spacetime. This distortion results in radio pulses from the pulsars arriving at Earth slightly earlier or later than expected. These findings provide the first evidence of the gravitational wave background, a pervasive spacetime distortion throughout the universe.
