Have you tried the marketplace? It looks cool in the UI till it's time to buy and you realize it's a simple DM. No checkout, no escrow. It's sad.

I gotta admit that I don't know most details about how Lightning works. The node operator can close your channel and you lose all your SATs?
To send and receive sats from your node, you need an inbound and outbound channel to be made with another node. They can close whenever someone wants. Good to have a few. Force closing means one node does not respond and you force it off
