Tomorrow, I’ll be speaking with Congressman Nicholas Begich (R-AK), who introduced The BITCOIN Act in the House this week.

Please share questions you’d like me to ask him in the comments.

Discussion

What will be done to protect Bitcoin and Bitcoiners from abuse as government becomes more involved in Bitcoin (self-custody, KYC, pressure on devs, etc)

I can follow up on this, but he’s already included language around such protections in the bill.

I haven't read the bill. Just tossed something out. I appreciate it!

Insert same question I had about stablecoin legislation being a Trojan horse for a CBDC

I think this bill is just focused on Bitcoin! (Reading it in the morning and will ask something about this if the bill does touch on stablecoins at all.)

Question: Why does the text of the bill capitalize "Bitcoin" and "Bitcoins" as a proper noun?

Haha. I see we have a fan of proper grammar here. Into it. Will let him know the money should be a lower case “b”

I think both should be lowercase. We no longer capitalize things like internet or email.

Does he support anonymous financial transactions?

Is Alaska interested in becoming the first state in the union to protect its archives and records with Bitcoin? State history can become immutable, protected from any adversary that may come in the future to change its past.

Good question. I’ll run it by him next time we speak!
