Add on actively engaging in national elections to prevent outcomes they deem undesirable.

There seems to be a propensity to self destruct too. i.e. actively shutting down viable power stations in an energy tight environment, and allowing strategically important industry to close down.

The madness will not go on indefinitely. It will end, it is merely a matter of how it ends, rather than if. ( IMHO )
