I agree with many parts of it, but am a bit surprised that you keep this stance together with 'no sponsors'.

I doubt podcasters sponsored by nostr:nprofile1qqs9500z3l7sn46sdnls5fnjm0d3lqmrq7707qshes2y7j8pnm4rllcfc0kcc or nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qpq88x98j0r7l2fszeph6j7hj99h8xl07n989pskk5zd69d2fcksetqtrfcre or whoever understands that today good content needs to be supported (even if doesn't bring measurable marketing results), compromise their souls on being sponsored. Isn't it also #value4value, but more b2c-like?

I know you don't have an answer and focused here on the critique (frustration soaks through lines), perhaps noone has... and each of content creators, distributors, consumers chooses their way of monetization and reaching out.

I don't think anyone claims that #value4value can totally replace other models, or that will largely kill ads, sponsored content, clickbaits. But it's nice that there is one more method of distribution / monetization / relationship consumer - creator. Years ago you had to go through some licensed institution to make reach and money.

We had short discussion about it with nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj76r99eex2mrp09skymr99ehhyecpzemhxue69uhkjmnzdauzumn0wd68ytnhd9hx2qpqmrmu3s5889zcaqcqwxejx8gtkp9rwna7fq0vqezk4x22rnpr2gms0sctx3 recently, who through hard work, dedication and lots of content can make a living out of podcast. I'm sure backdoor deals, increased network, brand, recognition (which brings other fruits later) conference tickets and hardware freebies play a role there, and it's great.

To reply purely on the sponsors stance: in my specific situation it's not doable. I'm in the "Bitcoin North-Korea" of Europe (Belgium) and make a podcast (and other things) for the local community.

There's close to no 'market' anyway for any sponsors to address, and on top of that, I don't want that hassle (sooner or later you'll have to walk a fine line when talking about that product or service).

Imagine having Celsius Network as a sponsor back in the day...

I get that this critique is not true for everyone everywhere, if you find good sponsors and you're doing fine.

I think the only viable solution for now is getting 1/4th out for free, and the rest on a paid, separate stream that can be paid in fiat (or bitcoin if technically possible).

I don't have the solution or answers in any case. But I hear and see questions and frustration about this model with other podcasters, artists and devs alike.

(and not all of them talk about it, for fear of coming over as self-serving or needy)
