🎨Lennart Helje (1940 - 2017) is a Swedish fairytale artist illustrator who paints Christmas elves, tomtes and animals in snowy swedish landscapes.

Tomte are Swedish household gnomes, also called Nisse in Norway. The tomte lives on the farm and helps to keep the animals safe and healthy.

Wee gnomes painted by Helje appear to be more guardians of the forest, certainly with enough free time on their hands to hang out with forest animals.

The artist's artwork has been reproduced as Christmas cards, both in Sweden and internationally, by UNICEF. He has also illustrated the stamps and postal Christmas seals, with Nordic nature.
