But, for real, tho.
Vitor implements digital struggle sessions and this dude is like, Oh, that is so useful. Instead of responding openly to something controversial, or just scrolling past or muting, I can send them a little note to remind them to better themselves and only write things I would write.

Other users find your note offensive. Please rewrite it to say, "I disagree, but we are all family, here."

u guys can edit notes now? i dont like it and i hope other clients dont support it
If you are usig the new Amethyst, you can edit your own notes and send other people edit-suggestions for their notes.
So, I immediately deinstalled it. There are other clients.
i dont get why we're copying twitter all the time, i still dont like that you can delete (have an option to delete) notes, i thought it was awesome that we couldnt delete notes and there are no other platform was doing that but nooooooo we have to copy other platforms π©
I think edits are not a good or a bad thing. There are advantages and disadvantages to them.
But on Nostr it's mostly disadvantages.
Threads will occasionally be incoherent, yes.
And adding complexity is one of the things we've been upset about because we're trying to get more developers making clients and now the hurdle has been raised in a big way.
As a friend said, we've now officially passed the Lone Wolf Threshold, where one developer can easily spin up a minimal K01 client within a week. Especially as this additional kind is (theoretically) not mandatory and the spec will be prone to frequent alterations.
One issue is that the inconsistency will be between clients that only support NIP-01 and clients that support edits.
This should never be the case. NIP-01 is the core of Nostr, so a client that ONLY support NIP-01 should never be wrong about anything.
Consider the integration with payment systems, for example. You are free to not implement it in your client (I won't in mine) and that will never lead to any inconsistency, just a missing feature.
Finally. I've seen the light. I understand now. π
