Damus and primal don’t collect that info
Discussion
Yes they do, they're just lying to Apple about it
C-c-c-ontacts?
Do you have any evidence to support your claim?
It's not complicated. You have a pubkey in primal right? Identifier. You can follow people? Contacts. Can people DM you? Contact information. Can you upload images? User content. This is just how the App store works.
Why do you need my contacts? And location?
You're clearly not listening to what I'm saying
You said it’s hard to avoid collecting all that information. Why? Why do you need my location?
I'm still kinda stumped on location though.
For nyms all of the other things are for AN identity but not all of my identities. Location is a string to tie identities together.
Location is in there because flotilla has an optional location field on the calendar event form, which takes any string. That's it. nostr:nprofile1qqsytuv4el7t3jtjfm7zfrc9q730ked40806he7dx5uctxqk8j4hvfcec8rh0
Very annoying that the app stores provide so little context for why data is collected and how it is used. It encourages lying by privacy minded apps and gives a massive shield for every imaginable abuse behind every item that is collected.
Even a simple "is this data ever intentionally disclosed to any third party after collection" radio button and a field explaining how long they retain collected data would be huge improvements.
Thanks for taking time out to explain.
Would you consider adding that context to a FAQ somewhere?
Thanks for clarifying that
