What if?

For art to have any impact, it needs to reveal some deep truth.

Not sure if that’s true. A lot of shitty vapid art makes an impact.

Most of Netflix is horrible, and yet it does have an impact on the young minds watching it, it shapes their worldview.

But are those movies and shows not art?

Not trying to be argumentative I just am really trying think about whether that’s true or not. It certainly sounds nice. What are some examples of great art that reveals deep truths in your opinion and what are those deep truths?

Currently reading Winds of War + War and Remembrance. The author has found unique angles in describing the truth of the horrors of war that reveal truths underneath the obvious. —- flipping the question around, have you ever really appreciated a piece of art that made you think of something false?

I don’t think so, although I have been previously influenced by philosophy which I would now disagree with.

Regardless, thanks for the book recommendations

What about the revolutionary force of fun? No use value or utility, just fun. Fun for fun’s sake, not somebody’s marketing campaign.
