I've been testing a bit GBU taler, an ecash system for fiat currencies that is "compliant" with AML and other legalese gibberish.

Altough the experience is pretty similar to cashu, it's clear that Cashu is way way better.

1. First of all, Cashu is sitting on top of an open protocol that is LN, which means that intra-mint transfers are doable into a blink of an eye. In GNU taler (as fiat implementation of ecash) you cannot do it at all, you still need for the bank transfer to go through. Which leads to the second point...

2. Fiat ecash max spends are limited to tge balance of the single mints and there is no chance to batch multiple mints balances to pay an invoice. Cashu is on LN, multi party payments are possible.

3. Fiat ecash applies blinding criptography to senders, but receivers are still de-anonimizable.

4. Fiat ecash is a shitcoin build on a shitcoin

My conclusion is that up to now we are running faster and doing better than our fiat enemies. This GNU taler thing is financed by the European Commission btw, so they are keepin up, we are not done with the battle.

PS. If wey work on ecash systems that means that the pRiVaTe bLoCkChAiN idea is already into the trash...nice, even the dumb regulators understood that the real revolution is not bLoCkChAiN
