Depends on the Nostr client you used,

some are acting weird

use https://metadata.nostr.com/# from time to time to backup contacts, relays, ...

that app is great but i think it would be even better if it included mute lists, nothing worse than suddenly rubbish reappearing in your profile, it's happened to me twice

Depends on the client/app you’re using. On Damus you can mute.

i'm talking about where the event with the list (mine has 150) is replaced with something that has nothing in it
