so what's the plan? put some block sealant in the coolant and let 'er buck?
Nope. I cleaned it all up and it actually looks ok. I guess the 6.5 is prone to cracking but the water jacket looks intact. I have no idea how long they’ve been there. It ran awesome when parked so I’m going to run with it and cross my fingers!
Replacing the timing chain and sprockets, oil pump, front and rear seals, heads, clutch, flywheel and starter. Hope to rebuild the turbo if I can get the bastard apart. ⚙️
sounds like a solid plan. if you get the chance, run the starter over to your local rebuilder and see if they can do a 4 brush conversion. you will not regret it. given what i'm seeing you doing, i assume you bought a top end gasket set as well as the bottom end stuff.. reseal everything you can get to. everything likes to leak once it's been apart .
Oh yeah - new gaskets and seals all around.
What’s the purpose of a four-brush conversation…? I’ve got a core charge but if it’s worth doing I’ll take you up on it.
more brushes, less points of failure. i 4 brushed all my 300ci ford 6 cylinders. never had one fail. if your starter is a known weak one, beefing it up is a must. hell, the starters on the old cx650 honda silverwings were notorious for failure, got the one on mine done, nary a problem.
Nice! Maybe 🤔 maybe I’ll keep and rebuild and eat the core charge to keep a spare on hand.
