Open Source or Privacy respecting weather apps out there?

I'm looking for one that's global, open source/privacy focused, if that even exists.

Yeah it's called the weather broadcast, it's one way. šŸ˜‚

Or you could always download the weather maps over radio.

More for marine environments than land based.

I'd like to see temps, rainfall, snow etc around the world, get an understanding of what I'm in for when I travel there.

There should be an app to use the soundcard as the modem for weather maps, there are for other modes.

This just gave me an idea: of creating a website where you can log in with nostr and create notes based on reports from IOT devices that measure weather in your area and make it public knowledge.

It doesn’t predict whether unless there is some AI that could use the current data and forecast from it.

That's cool, I've got my own little weather station here.

Someone needs to make the site.

What do you mean by ā€œprivacy focusedā€?

Doesn't suck up every piece of info about you and sell it.

It’s a weather app, what information do you think it’s ā€œsucking up and sellingā€? šŸ˜‚

Found the one for weather maps, HF Weather Fax.

Can't zap you, man, albys not liking it.

There is also NAVTEX, which might be useful for coastal.

Breezy

You may also possibly find some apps for satellite using a rtl-sdr dongle, but that won't be much good for finding overseas weather, just your region.

You definitely can on PC.
