Yeah it’s kind of 2 edged sword. On one hand extra business, but at the expense of annoyance and rising prices. I kind of get this. Tourism has gotten out of hand in some places.

yeah it's a really big problem here in #madeira
i won't be surprised if they make moves to curb it and try to push more people towards agriculture and boutique crafts, as it is you can already get free money to help start farms here

I wouldn’t mind things going back to when we had less tourism tbh. Places used to feel special and unique but now everything looks like a mall
Yes, I was reading a book that talked about this and how there are places in cities and urban areas where there are no signs of culture and you can be anywhere, like in any place of the world, when you're inside, places like shopping centres and big chains where you're placed in a kind of third space that has nothing to do with the folklore of the place in order to transmit a brand image
