I don’t think it’s worth the risk. The whole argument revolves around a « necessary » removal of a filter limit. WHY do we need that ? What kind of an upgrade is that. It will bring nothing good and the modus operandi is a clear signal that it’s done with evil intentions.

We don’t have any “risk” because the OP_Return limit can be changed or removed already and we already have mined such transactions.
The update removes this option because it’s useless
Ehh I’m still not convinced filters are now useless and fees are the only defense against spam. As we say in French « qui vivra verra »
