New to Nostr. I’m slightly confused. How do we prevent bots from creating accounts and spamming? #asknostr

we, as a community, can't, nor want so far, the moment it changes it's ethos many will leave

#Nostr was built to be resistant to censorship, therefore that would not make sense

Clients matter and not all are built the same:

if you are using a client like Primal, it is already banning and blocking lots of content, so you will have with that client a reduced Nostr experience, but if you are pro censorship that is the client for you, unless you are technicality savvy, in which case, you can change the relays to paid ones blocking spam and bots

or...

Like most do, use Nostr like it was intended with an awesome client like Amethyst (with full privacy (TOR) and AMBER) or Nostrudel and block and mute what and who you don't like to see, it is very personal, what you don't like others may like, but here there is no a CEO deciding what you can and you can't see or watch, you are in full control.

Nostr sucks at blocking child porn and spam

Nothing changed since the last super spam attack

I have been using Nostr almost since its inception and I have never seen child porn.

If you do, report it, most client allow you to report illegal content and you can block that individual during reporting so you don't see that content again in your feed.

Now I assume you are using a global view to discover content, I often observe the hidden content warning the user is adult content, I never click on it and I suggest everybody to ignore them, I just block those users right away, simple, over time, my global feed is curated and you observe better content

You dont use global timeline so you are missing most of nostr. My global is clean and nice. A must use. Thats how people use competing technology.

Reporting does nothing on nostr yet..been 3 years and no use. Nothing built into the relays

blocking works great in Amethyst and in Nostrudel, my Global is great and clean,

you like Global more than your feed of follows... that is very subjective, your choice, I enjoy more my curated list of follows, if nothing new I can check for few minutes the global but never as interesting as my Follow list and the Hash Tags I follow

according to Nostrudel lists my mutes are intact, same npubs, not many though, my blocks work well in Amethyst, hence, my global is clean, I read a Victor post discussing that, I haven't experience that issue
