A parasite depends on its host. If the host dies, the parasite also dies. Little babies have a parasitical relationship with their mothers. The elderly and the sick have a parasitical relationship on society, and there are many examples of cultures that excluded (killed) such parasites; even Aristotle and Plato recommended that deformed babies be left exposed to the elements.
