Yes they would lose. But fortunately (for them) most people are so deeply stuck in the debt trap that they do whatever they tell them to do because they're scared to lose everything they don't really own in the first place. Many people know how screwed up things around them are but "hope" that things will get better or that politicans will stop lying to their face while enriching themselves keep them from ever revolting.
That system is a very sophisticated scam.
It's very sophisticated and very compelling. The people are led to believe that the things they need are very expensive, and they require the generous assistance of the bankers to help them get it. The end result is that the people will defend that system because 1) they believe they need the things, and 2) the generous bankers are owed our gratitude and loyalty. Both are lies.
Agreed. I also believe that debt and taxes are deeply linked. If you take enough money away from the people you basically guarantee that they have to borrow money. Once the owe money you own them.
