A zap is a very small bitcoin payment over a protocol called lightning that is fast with low fees. People on nostr use these to encourage good content.

There are lots of good providers that can host a lightning wallet for you and link it to your nostr key. I use #alby but they might have a waiting list. Ask around for recommendations since there's lots to choose from!

More advanced users can host their own wallet for better security.
