I’m going with melted grass fed butter w/ fleur de sel
Discussion
fleur de sel?
it’s a hand harvest kind of sea salt.
the wikipedia entry is wrong.
it’s called “flower of salt” because in the season where conditions are right for collecting the salt, violets bloom on the shores of the area it originally was harvested, which gave it a slight purple tinge, and slight taste of flowers.
another part missing from wikipedia is the “paludiers” (the salt gatherers) we’re traditionally women, because the work required patience and finesse, and the coastal French culture associated these traits as stronger in women.
Fleur de sel butter was my favorite part about living in France 🥲
How would you rate your experience living there? 🤔
sounds dreamy. 🙂
then again, some time in Montreal with grass fed butter and local maple syrup doesn’t sound too bad 🍁
Thank you so much for this 💜💜 Really interesting history behind it also
