For me, greed feeds on uncertainty. The more uncertain the future feels the more I feel that I need. The more you have the more escape from trouble that you can buy. I don't think it is irrational to get stuck in that loop.

That said, most of the anxiety and uncertainty comes from living in future problems in my mind even though they aren't here today. Being more present allows me to disengage from that thought loop.

Once I'm not trapped in that loop, I can make more rational decisions. Should I be saving? Yes. Am I saving a good amount given income and expenses? Yes. Are my expenses kept reasonable and focused towards my long term goals? Yes. Am I making a reasonable effort to increase my income? Yes.

Once I know all of those are true, it is time to get back to the work and more importantly the fun of today and stop stressing about the future.

Now if you'll excuse me... Time to put away my phone and go play Legos with my kids.

As usual, a thoughtful and well reasoned reply. Thank you Sir.

And I agree, legos represent time well spent. :)
