I share the following setting with the new users with amethyst to limit global and group chat to paid nodes.
Additionally, nostrgram's following+ is a good global alternative with a wider user coverage to hear from more people.

Otherwise recommending the following to new users. But quite a challenge for new users to set up paid nodes etc.
