Pubky the social media application is much much more censorable than the general thesis of hosts discoverable by DHT. The chokepoint is not the DHT, it is that indexing is expensive and has to be as centralised and censorable as Primal.

I have never seen any evidence that search and indexing is shardable enough to be cheap to decentralise.

But social media is not the whole world. Nostr doesn't need to do what DHTs do, because it has much bigger problem, so does pubky the social media app. But again, the Web is bigger than this.
