This statistic is wrong. There were not 37 *presidential* candidates killed in Mexico last year. That’s the total number of candidates out of tens of thousands across the entire country running for all offices including local seats. Mexico has a lot of political violence, but at it helps to get the facts straight.

There was a similar round of posts about candidates in a recent German election “mysteriously” dropping dead, and it turned out most of them were pushing 80 and it was just their time to go.
