an originating culture forms itself and eventually if it is effective, transforms the world around it by institutionalizing its beliefs and values. the result is a civilization that represents a kind of externalization of those beliefs and values, a formalized system of life that ultimately perpetuates itself, regardless of the original culture's strength or health. thus civilization is the inevitable destiny of culture.
