Kevin O'Leary is obviously a paid shill who has lost all credibility after his SBF statements. Saifedean has stated it will become a global reserve asset for central banks out of necessity. These are game theory scenarios that will play out because of the convergence of wealth on the hardest money. That's not related to pushing for regulation. I don't see the connection there.

I'm actually just messing with you, seeing how easy it is to bait maxis on here, and mentioning Monero since a lot of them are unreasonably dismissive of it.

In reality I like Bitcoin and hold a fair amount, but all anyone ever talks about on Nostr so far is Bitcoin, which is boring, and the whole zaps thing is an awful idea.

Well Bitcoiners naturally would like something like Nostr, and since bitcoin is such a fascinating topic, it's not surprising to see bitcoiners talk about it. Why are zaps an awful idea??

Think about platforms like Reddit. They gameify social interactions through upvotes. You're not incentivized to say what you really think, but what you (subconsciously) think will get you the most upvotes (dopamine). So all social discourse degenerates towards the lowest common denominator. Zaps are like that but with money, in addition to dopamine. They're like Reddit gold/upvotes on steroids.

And sure, I like Bitcoin too. But it's not a personality. And the entire global feed is Bitcoin, Bitcoin, zap, zap, Bitcoin, etc.

Nostr was created by a Bitcoin protocol developer with a lot of money from Jack Dorsey for the express purpose of proving that web3 (social media over a time chain misused for bloated data storage) is stupid and can be done better a different way.

Crypto is all "let's reinvent the wheel but on the time chain" now that is fucking boring

Sorry money is so boring to you. I guess I'm just a nerd who likes economics and the idea of money with updates to the ruleset based on a social construct rather than a top down organization.

I just think its neat.

You're kind of strawmanning here. Regardless, it's not that Bitcoin itself is boring, it's that the majority of retards on here are boring, and use low-effort Bitcoin memes to fill in for their lack of a personality while they beg for zaps. At least you two guys are somewhat decent, since we're having an actual conversation. Most people just post that emoji of two people hugging, before retreating to their echo chamber.

I mean fucking look, these retards are starting hugchains:

I'm not straw manning at all. I merely reacted to how I thought you meant. I interpreted you to mean "only talking about Bitcoin is boring"

On the contrary, your description of the general user here is a strawman, but in any case, people are people and when it comes to people, you can't group everyone into one glop. You rather have to talk and find people you vibe with.

This feels like a strange thing to need to explain to someone but I've explained simpler things in the past maybe just reminding people of things they already know and just applying it to the context of discussion. Maybe that's just what I want to believe though.

Maybe its that you aren't used to having to sort though people. Maybe you're just very used to thinking as most people think and being in a situation where that isn't the case is alien to you? Understand this is not a strawman, but an attempt to understand you.

I said "all anyone ever talks about on Nostr so far is Bitcoin, which is boring". I mean, Bitcoin is and can be an interesting topic, but looking at the global timeline it's largely people asking for zaps, offering zaps, and saying how great nostr & Bitcoin are, without much more depth to the conversation. I sent you a thread where dozens of people are all posting hug emojis at each other, they're taking the term "hugbox" literally.

And I am used to sorting through people, I'm usually on the uncensored side of the fediverse where there are plenty of retards. But at least the retards there are interesting, and have more to talk about than "zap me, Bitcoin to the moon". I think the problem isn't nostr itself, since the relay structure is a good idea. It's that the whole zap thing incentivizes the lowest common denominator type of thinking, where a lot of people aren't here to have an interesting, two-sided conversation, but farm endorphins and sats.
