While I was painting this canvas, I let the color take shape on its own, and that’s how I saw the lights of the fireworks emerge, as if they wanted to appear on the canvas by themselves. I saw them reflected on the lagoon, sliding downward, dissolving and lighting up again in a thousand shades of gold and copper. Suspended between sky and water on a mysterious, magical night.
