Looks like that to me too. My first Internet use was with MUD, IRC, Gopher and this new thing called WWW.

At some point NNTP was as cool as the web to me because it was yet another way for anons to talk and exchange freely.

Nostr is the new IRC and NNTP but much more potent. We can start over with 30 years of hind sight experience.
