The protocol supports arbitrary tags, which are lists of strings, so if I were going to implement this feature, I’d use tags to mark alternative sources, then put the “main” source in the text of the note. It would be up to clients to use the alternative sources when rendering. Clients that don’t implement the feature will still show the main image as before. Clients that implement will have a better failover experience.
