So here’s the question. Are you open enough outside of social media to connect with people? Is there a need for the social media? It’s an interesting question I think. I know not who you are but we have randomly interacted over the past 2 years here and I have appreciated it. But do we need the cyberspace interactions? Why? Nostr certainly more positive. Have you gained by getting involved? 🫂🤷🖕🤪

I'm very social. I get along woth most people. I just don't see eye to eye with most people. And that fine. But I like knowing that we have a base ethos as bitcoiners. There is already a base understanding and world view we all share.

I think that’s the appeal of social media; funding like minded individualism to keep yourself from going crazy with all the people who don’t see things the way you do

And like you said, that doesn’t mean you don’t get along with people who think differently. But it can be mentally draining when people don’t understand basic truths, like the laws of economics.

💯 I don't like having to explain where I'm coming from to set context to a new conversation. It's exhausting and it gets repetitive. So I give up most times and just agree with people. I still have fun but it's superficial. I don't have very meaningful discussions woth most people.

Enter, Nostr!

Yes! And it feels good to talk to likeminded people. And learn new things as well.

I recently finished a book called The Beginning of Infinity

One of the main themes is that, science is the process of moving from one misconception to another less flawed misconception

While I think I’m right about my way of thinking, I understand I must have some things wrong so I stay open minded and continue to search for better arguments

In a physical "meatspace" environment it's the only option. Whilst I get what you're saying as feel the same, I've tried (commonly failed) recently to have more patience and occasionally it works and get past superficial.

But if you give up and just agree..... Meh, you're a better man than I cause I have a tendency to go throw full tin foil extravaganza and just see where shit falls 🙄

I try to meet them where they’re at. Whatever they believe, find the common ground and build from there.

It is challenging at times and ET don’t always achieve our goal, but logic, good arguments, and the right touch are changing things slowly.

Thing is, inflation means it gets less challenging over time.what's the correct term here? The inverse inflation but coin conversation inflator? (Am opening another beer after that)

Values shared. You describe it well. Being social but kinda slightly off alignment. Maybe that’s the correct way of describing what any form of social media should be. The discovery of alignment outside of one’s traditional social environment

People just look at you like an alien if you talk like you do here out there. They don't have the same context because they haven't studied bitcoin. They still have a fiat mentality.

I totally agree with that sentiment and it’s why I got involved and set up local bitcoin group. It’s also a little odd when one has a few friends to discuss things with that have done the work and study but are not close by. Nostr does help there too. Open app, see thread, sigh, have a beer. But at the same time, one has to keep having the conversations. Am starting to chill a little of the shilling concepts of Austrian economics and value but couldn’t help myself today with an Australian couple I met. Interesting thing to me is I think times are changing. Non bitcoiners who haven’t done the study are seriously questioning and asking what the fuck is going on. In a digital world we are used to things happening at light speed but fundamentally, humans don’t
