If someone set a passphrase on a wallet but is not sure what it is (we have the mnemonic) What is the best way to go about trying to crack it?

I used https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover a while back. Does this person have any idea what the passphrase is?

The likely options came up empty. This is the hail mary.

I tried 80 different iterations. It turned out I had an extra space in my passphrase. The python program makes it faster.

This problem is the main reason I recomend using the Cold Card.

I'm going to have to play with this when I know for sure it's going to find something. Then I can try it again with a less certain test.

Also, this is a good time to remind people to write down the master key fingerprint (XFP) when creating a wallet.

That is the one bright side. I have all the pubkeys so it should be a simple😃 matter of matching on that. No need to search for coins.
