It shouldn't. 0xChat uses the new DM system. No one knows who you are messaging with, dates and times are all randomly placed and even the event kind is hidden.

I think they are discussing nip44, which does not involve metadata leaks issue. However, Amethyst and 0xchat use gift wrapped + nip44, which can prevent metadata leaks.
