KJV, or NIV if that's too difficult. Buy used, older the better. Got mine at Half Price Books.

I recommend an ESV from Crossway (full disclosure, I work for Crossway, but it really is a great translation which draws from the original manuscripts, the KJV, and the RSV)

ESV is easiest to read, it's what a lot of churches use

If you go to any church they will give you one for free and get you going. Don't be afraid to meet a pastor and ask for guidance
