Removing Fiat from the Environment - Part 1 the Sound Money City
Abstract: Under a fiat monetary system, the places where we live (the built-environment) as well as nature (the natural environment) have become increasingly degraded. Because environmental costs are external to the economy, they are not priced by the Keynesian market. Modern society has added regulatory controls to attempt to price in these factors based on wide support for environmental protections. While these regulatory controls provide a repricing to include environmental concerns, they are opaque and not free market driven. In addition to repricing fiat incentives, this series will explore ways that bitcoin could reduce or remove regulatory burden and provide a free market for environmental costs.
