Americans can't handle the responsibility or the freedom.

If you let them drink in the streets, "society" would collapse, and nobody would want to step out of their entitlement to help clean up the mess left by their fellow man.

Jokes aside, I think people 18+ should be able to drink at public spaces.

100% agree. I don't think any rule that suppresses someone's ability to act in any way that does not harm another should be enacted or enforced.

I will go further and state that the reason I believe americans (among many others) are unable to handle the freedom or responsibility is the enactment and enforcement of these rules. They never learned responsibility or how to handle freedom, because their entire society was built on suppressing it in favor of the morality and control of those in power.

This may not have been true a century ago, but certainly appears to be the case today, and would be the experience of most americans alive now.
